Through fundraisers, renting out for activities and storage, and generous donations from alumni and area businesses, Preservation Sykeston has been able to maintain the buildings to the present time. The Sykeston Fire Protection District has been working very hard the past 1 1/2 years planning and helping the city and community with a new Fire/City Hall on Main Street. We plan to make this building efficient and multifunctional so that all citizens can use it for various activities. As of April 2008, we are very thankful for the the generous donations we have received so far, and we are getting closer to our goal. We are planning to have a good share of the building done by July 4th so it can be used for the 125th Celebration to welcome all our visitors. We sent out a letter in February asking for donations. We have had a great response with donations. Any contributions made to this project will sincerely be appreciated. If you did not receive the letter, click here for more information.
